About the curator

Liana Romaniuk is a consultant in child and adolescent psychiatry, working in the Melville Inpatient Unit, Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Edinburgh. This is a regional CAMHS inpatient unit for young people who are experiencing mood, psychotic or eating disorders. Dr Romaniuk is also a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Edinburgh: her research focuses on applying computational methods to neuroimaging datasets to develop a more mechanistic understanding of mental illness. She is especially interested in how flexible thinking and personal autonomy can be maintained and bolstered despite illness. She hopes this will guide the development of new treatments, and help young people in making individual choices during their recoveries.
